Our Impact › Program & Cohorts Results
Since 2011, we have assembled from the ground up, the best package of business expertise and strategic support. We are optimizing the highest-potential social purpose organizations using innovative methodology proven hugely effective at solving deeply entrenched societal issues elsewhere in the world. As a result of our work, organizations have been able to attract new funding and increase revenue, build capacity, scale programs and more.
The Strategic Reinvention Initiative (SRI), with funding from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, is aimed at supporting Social Purpose Organizations (SPOs) that are removing barriers for newcomers, scaling innovative programs and services, and demonstrating measurable impact, specifically towards employment or self-employment outcomes.
These ten organizations represent a portfolio of service providers that have demonstrated positive impact for newcomers to Canada and, importantly, want to do more. Up to March 2024, LIFT will work with each SPO, both individually and as a cohort, to provide in-depth support and coaching in key areas that are foundational to high-performing organizations. Based on LIFT’s proven track record, it is anticipated that each SPO will have the right strategy, partnerships, programs, and funding in place to support newcomers to overcome the barriers to meaningful employment.
Inclusion With Impact (IWI), funded in part by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), is aimed at supporting organizations that are removing barriers for people with disabilities, scaling innovative programs and services and demonstrating measurable results, specifically towards employment or self-employment outcomes.
The eight social purpose organizations (SPOs – not-for-profit, charities or social enterprises), selected from across Canada, are each in their own way doing exceptional work advancing social impact and employment outcomes for people with disabilities in Canada. These organizations have proven track records and unrealized potential for substantial growth. As a cohort, these eight organizations will facilitate resource and information sharing, create opportunities for potential collaboration and be in a position to implement best practices across the disability sector.
Better Beginnings, Bigger Impact, funded in part by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), is aimed at helping organizations serving newcomers, who are considered to be immigrants or refugees.
This unique initiative was created to help 10 organizations expand their capacity and reach to deliver real change in the lives of Canadian newcomers. LIFT sought organizations helping individuals overcome barriers specific to the newcomer experience, integrating newcomers into Canadian life and supporting individuals to build a cohesive and diverse society. Core service areas include language skills, employment assistance, community connections and needs assessments for smooth integration.
In 2015, with the support of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), LIFT launched Scaling for Impact: Disability (a pilot project). LIFT selected five SPOs who did good work in the disability sector but had potential to do even more.
Each SPO was in the middle of significant change or at a strategic pivot, from mergers and new partnerships to scaling impact and changing funding structures. LIFT worked with each SPO to build capacity through a valuable combination of hands-on management support, expertise provided by a network of pro bono professional service partners and strategic funding.
