The Association for Canadian Studies, Metropolis Institute, and LIFT Impact Partners are joining forces with support from The WES Mariam Assefa Fund.

--

LIFT Impact Partners is excited to announce a new collaboration with the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) and Metropolis Institute, to launch a Community of Practice on Alternative Funding Approaches for the Canadian Settlement Sector.

This pilot project is based on the fruition of research that was conducted as part of ACS’ WES Mariam Assefa Funded project, Envisioning the Future of the Immigrant Serving Sector. Through research conducted between 2020 and 2022, ACS identified a strong need within the immigrant-serving sector to diversify revenue streams outside of IRCC funding which would enhance settlement service organizations’ capacity to scale, operationalize, innovate and improve their programming.

Between September 2022 and March 2023, we will be delivering programming for settlement service organizations to explore potential avenues for additional revenue generation to supplement existing funding. The Community of Practice will serve as a knowledge sharing hub and will facilitate the exploration of best practices in this area. Knowledge sharing and discussion will take place in a supportive environment with subject matter experts, providing a space for enhanced collaboration. Topics will cover the ways in which alternative funding approaches, such as social enterprise, fee for service, social finance, community impact investing and more, can be applied to the settlement sector. We anticipate that participants will increase their knowledge of revenue diversification models, learn how these may best be tailored to their unique work needs and environments, advance their readiness to adopt new funding models, opportunity to create new strategic partnerships, support systems and more.

If you are interested in participating in this initiative*, please sign up here: Community of Practice Sign-up by August 15th, 2022. If you have any questions or would like to learn more, please contact Lisa Abramowicz at lisa.abramowicz@acs-aec.ca for details.

*While all who are interested are welcome to participate, this programming will be most beneficial to senior staff, board members, Executive Directors, CEOs and other staff in leadership roles who have financial oversight of their respective organizations. At this time, the programming will only be available in English.
