Rise breaks down barriers and changes futures through innovative small business services.

Rise is Canada’s only national charity providing people with mental health or addiction challenges a path toward sustained self-employment or small business ownership. Services are personalized to support each client with a combination of training, resources, mentorship and low-interest micro loans. With eight locations across Canada, Rise has supported over 1,000 clients through lending and training programs. In 10 years, Rise has disbursed 500 loans representing more than two million dollars and graduated over 600 people from entrepreneurship training programs. Clients improve their financial stability and make positive life changes to benefit their families and communities alike.

Opportunity

Build on the work accomplished in previous engagements with LIFT, which focused on developing and implementing a national scaling strategy. Progress to the next stage of strategic growth, including bolstering partnerships, resources and profile to increase its social impact.

Plan

Develop a comprehensive measurement framework to report on Rise’s social impact and improve performance. Create a strategic plan, implementation plan and scorecard against which to measure progress toward goals. Develop a multi-year marketing and communications strategy to support Rise in elevating its public profile and strengthening brand recognition. Develop a strategy to strengthen the stability of funding for Rise, while giving the flexibility to innovate programs and respond to client needs. Develop a roadmap to increase and strengthen national-level partnerships. Develop a volunteer strategy that supports all aspects of Rise and increases its impact and growth.

Rise is delighted to be part of the Inclusion with Impact project. We previously worked with LIFT for three years, and among the numerous results of this engagement, we developed and launched Rise’s National Scaling Strategy and rebranded the organization. With this new engagement, we are excited to work with dynamic organizations across the country as part of the cohort.
