Extend-a-Family Waterloo Region (EAFWR) was established in 1981 to serve children, youth and adults across the Waterloo Region who have developmental disabilities. EAFWR is committed to community, dignity and belonging for all. As a local not-for-profit serving 2,000 adults and children, EAFWR’s breadth of programs ensures it is able to support people as they pass through all of life’s stages.
Opportunity
Scale EAFWR’s services, build its capacity for further growth and sustainability, increase its public profile, report on its social impact and broaden its reach to become a larger player in the developmental services sector in the Waterloo region within southwestern Ontario.
Plan
Develop a comprehensive measurement framework to report on EAFWR’s social impact. Implement a robust roadmap to diversify revenue. Implement an earned revenue strategy, including clear systems and a decision-making framework for assessing ideas. Enhance EAFWR’s processes for the engagement of change management strategies. Develop and implement an external communications plan to support EAFWR in broadening its public profile and assist the organization to expand its reach.
Allan Mills Executive Director, Extend-a-Family Waterloo RegionAt Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region we have recently added ‘virtually’ to our hashtag ‘BetterTogetherWR’ (WR being Waterloo Region). We are very much looking forward to our ‘virtuallyBetterTogether,’ including our new partners at LIFT and the other cohort members that will soon join our learning and growth journey, even amidst the current pandemic that is deeply impacting all of us. We anticipate new relationships, experiences and opportunities that will help shape our work over the next three years and beyond. »
