Terry Beech is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Hiretheworld.com, a crowd-sourcing that operates in over 150 countries. Hiretheworld.com won the first place $123,000-prize at the 2010 New Ventures BC and received funding from Oxford University. He is also the co-founder and a director of Twinbro Local Leaders, a non-profit organization that equips students with a passion for community contribution, as well as leadership training and opportunities for scholarships.
Terry holds an MBA from Oxford University and an economics and business degree from Simon Fraser University. Terry won the European championships of the prestigious Venture Capital Investment Competition on behalf of Oxford, and in 2009 finished 2nd in the VCIC World Championships. Terry was featured as a Maclean’s Top 30 Under 30 Canadian Leader, and is the recipient of the Volunteer Vancouver Award, the Capilano University “One to Watch” Award, and the SFU Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award. In 1999, Terry made Canadian history by becoming Canada’s youngest elected official when he served as a city councillor for the City of Nanaimo.
Terry is an instructor of business strategy and entrepreneurship within the faculty of business at Simon Fraser University. Terry is also a 2010/2011 Action Canada fellow and has conducted extensive research in the area of high growth entrepreneurship in Canada. In 2011, he was highlighted as one of Canada’s top young entrepreneurs by the Business News Network. Terry is extremely passionate about LIFT’s venture philanthropy model, and is excited to use his entrepreneurial expertise to effect social change.
