Vancouver, B.C. (August 6, 2014): Bruce Dewar, president and chief executive officer of LIFT Impact Partners, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sheryl Lee as chief impact officer, a newly created role that comes as part of an organizational restructure for LIFT.

LIFT is a unique philanthropic effort that strengthens the capacity and effectiveness of organizations committed to advancing social change through increased access to health, skills development, education and employment. Through its innovative model, LIFT is working to ensure that all Canadians not only participate in our country’s prosperity, but grow and support it for generations to come.

As chief impact officer, Sheryl is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the social purpose organizations (SPOs) in the LIFT portfolio. She leads the LIFT work to assist SPOs scale to increase their capacity and social impact. Sheryl was previously the chief financial officer for LIFT.

Sheryl is a passionate leader with a strong track record of success. She brings over 20 years of corporate, commercial and financial expertise, in both the private and not-for-profit sectors to LIFT. As a precursor to LIFT, Sheryl spent seven years as chief financial officer for 2010 Legacies Now, an organization that was dedicated to creating inclusive social and economic legacies around the province leading up to and beyond the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. She is applying the key learnings (collaboration, multi-year commitments and outcome measurement) to the SPOs in the LIFT portfolio.

Sheryl serves on the board of directors for Legal Services Society of BC, is an honorary director for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society, and previously served on the board of the YWCA for Metro Vancouver. After completing a bachelor of commerce at the University of British Columbia, Sheryl worked for Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP where she completed her chartered accountant designation. She also worked with Enbridge Services and was involved with the sale of Enbridge Services to Direct Energy, managing the transition and ultimate closure of the BC operations. She then served as director of business effectiveness for the commercial business division with Direct Energy in Toronto.

"Sheryl taking on this new role will increase LIFT’s ability and focus on transforming the lives of individuals by strengthening the capacity of SPOs that address health, skills development, education and employment,” said Bruce Dewar.
