Chief Operating Officer
Based on the generous support of Sandra A Rotman, this initiative was jointly created in 2009, by the Rotman School of Management and Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). Rise Asset Development (Rise) provides low interest small business loans, training, and mentorship to entrepreneurs with a history of mental health or addiction challenges.
Business loans and advisory supports are offered depending on the stage of development, needs and capacity of each business. Rise provides business financing up to $10,000 throughout Ontario with financing averaging from $3000 to $5000.
The Rotman School of Management and Centre for Addiction and Mental Health participate in advisory functions, leading their respective expertise for business mentoring and mental health supports and services to the benefit of Rise clients.
Reporting to the CEO of Rise, you will deliver efficient and effective program management, finance and administration, human resources, legal and risk management. Also, the COO will provide a day-to-day leadership presence at the organization for all staff. The COO will play a critical role in facilitating the launch of new locations for Rise. With your understanding of the subtleties of working in a senior capacity within a non-profit organization, you will build strong, collaborative relationships and provide superior support to staff in their delivery of the line and staff functions.
As the ideal candidate for this role, you possess a degree in Business Administration in Not-For-Profit management, community social work, social geography or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent. You have significant operational and leadership experience, with general management experience including finance, systems and human resources. In addition, you have excellent judgment and the ability to identify priorities and emerging issues. You solve problems collaboratively, creatively, and analytically. You are a natural problem solver, with a presence and the interpersonal skills to build productive relationships with community organizations and other stakeholders.
