LIFT Philanthropy Partners supports social change by increasing the impact and sustainability of social purpose organizations in Canada. We select not-for-profits, social enterprises and other organizations that address health, skills development, education and employment, and provide them with a valuable combination of skills, expertise and resources to improve their operations and measurement practices. We work with each organization over three years, and engage a partner network of leading businesses that provide pro bono services to increase the organization’s capacity. Ultimately, we aim to build sustainable and effective social purpose organizations that can reach more people in need across Canada.
Our Vision: We aim to be a leader advancing positive and lasting social change.
Our Mission: We strengthen social purpose organizations to make them sustainable and effective at delivering social impact that improves the health and productivity of Canadians.
Legacy of social impact
LIFT is a not-for-profit organization that evolved from 2010 Legacies Now, where we leveraged the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to create social and economic benefits in communities throughout British Columbia. From 2000-2011, 2010 Legacies Now developed and supported more than 12,500 community programs that engaged more than two million people across BC. 2010 Legacies Now leveraged the excitement of the Games to increase access to literacy, sport, healthy living and other opportunities. Many of these programs continue to operate as legacies of the Games, now managed by partner organizations, such as Decoda Literacy Solutions, viaSport, BC Games Society and others.
Investing in social change
In 2011, we launched the LIFT model to build the capacity of social purpose organizations across Canada. Our LIFT model is based on successful social investment models worldwide and incorporates the concepts of venture philanthropy. We draw on the experience and knowledge gained over the past 12 years to help social purpose organizations improve operations, refine measurement practices, and deliver greater social impact in the lives of Canadians.
