Jane Pepino

Past Chair

N. Jane Pepino, C.M., Q.C., LL.D. LL.M., is a senior partner at Aird & Berlis LLP and the founder of the firm’s Municipal and Land Use Planning Group. As one of Canada’s leading lawyers in the areas of property development and real estate, Jane provides strategic advice for governments, large development corporations, small landowners, and citizen and special interest groups.

In 2011, Jane was awarded the Canadian Urban Institute’s David Crombie Award in recognition of her extensive volunteer service in support of women’s health and public safety. In addition to being the chair of LIFT’s board of directors, Jane is the chair of Women’s College Hospital in Toronto, and the Lieutenant-Governor-in-Council appointment to the University of Toronto’s Governing Council. She also serves on the chair’s advisory council of the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario, the board of Toronto Lands Corporation, and the Victoria University Property Committee.

Jane’s previous board service includes Habitat for Humanity, Sunnybrook & Women’s Health Sciences Centre, and 2010 Legacies Now. Jane was the founding chair of the Province of Ontario Women’s Health Council. She also served on the Canadian Advisory Council on the Status of Women, Toronto’s Metro Action Committee on Violence Against Women and Children, the Toronto Mayor’s Committee on Employment Equity, Metropolitan Toronto Police Commission, and Ontario Human Rights Commission.

In 2000, Jane was appointed as a member of the Order of Canada. She received an honorary doctor of laws from the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2005, and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1985.
