Allan Seckel


Allan Seckel is the CEO of Doctors of BC (formerly the BC Medical Association), a position he has held since 2011. His diverse career has included legal practice, private sector management roles and extensive public service, as well as several non-profit directorships.

In 2003, Allan was appointed Deputy Attorney General for British Columbia and in 2009 he became Deputy Minister to the Premier of British Columbia, the Hon. Gordon Campbell, a position which also made him the Head of the B.C. Public Service and the Cabinet Secretary.

Prior to his public service career, he was a practicing lawyer focused on litigation of commercial and class action cases, as well as deputy managing director of a major Vancouver law firm.

Allan has a bachelor’s degree from Simon Fraser University with a joint major in economics and commerce, and a law degree from the University of Victoria. He also attended Cambridge University as a Commonwealth Scholar, earning the degree of LL.M. He is a Queen’s Counsel, has authored or co-authored two legal texts, and received his ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. In addition to his board role with LIFT, he is a member of the Telus Vancouver Community Board and the Covenant House Vancouver Board.
